It's pretty simple really; I'm a pastor who likes to do a lot of things. I share my faith in Jesus Christ and on the side I like to create wooden rocking horses and American flags. I have no formal training in woodworking unless you count my high school industrial arts class where I made a pretty sweet jewelry box! I also watched "The New Yankee Workshop" every Saturday morning as a kid and was amazed how Norm could build all those cool things out of wood. So, inspired by these and others, I spend some hobby time in my garage and try to recreate it myself.
The reason I started this project is twofold: first, I know the joy of adoption and I believe that every child should have a chance to be kissed on the forehead, read a book about hope and a future, and tucked into a safe and warm bed at night. In essence, to know that they are loved. What I have discovered is that there are plenty of kids craving this kind of love and just as many families desiring to give it, but one of the biggest barriers is the cost. It is extremely expensive to adopt so I wanted to help.
Second, I am a veteran and I have a concern for American vets. We see so many young men and women coming back from deployments finding it hard to put their lives in order so I felt it in my heart to get involved. So, my small part of the bigger picture is to give of my time, treasure, and talents to these heroes by spending time with them and assisting them in whatever way that I can and both of these passions cost money.
I'm not a wealthy guy so personally funding this mission was not possible. But with the help of others, I knew it could be done. Join with me in closing the gap between a child who longs to be loved and a family trying to make that happen as well as helping our veterans get back in their feet. Know that when you purchase a rocking horse or a flag that you are helping because a portion of the proceeds from each item sold is given back to those who need it most. Thank you!
